The Chevrolet automobile company was founded in 1911 by American race car driver Louis Chevrolet. Since 1918, the brand has been part of the General Motors group, and the Chevrolet Truck 100 Years series commemorates this centennial anniversary. On this occasion, Matchbox released five new color variations of popular Chevrolet toy cars for Walmart USA, along with an entirely new model – the ’47 1/2 Chevy AD Truck. A 5 Pack/Set with the same models was also issued, but one model that didn’t make it into the set and thus remained exclusive to this series is the ’70 El Camino.
