    Matchbox > 2025 > Basic

After several years, Matchbox has expanded its core range to 125 models, exciting collectors and fans alike. In October 2024, Wave A was introduced, bringing 9 new models. Among them were 3 new releases: #7 2024 Ford Explorer BEV, #65 2024 Toyota Tacoma, and #93 MBX Field Car Convertible. This wave also featured 5 new color schemes and the Super Chase Audi R8 model. Wave B included 11 models, with 3 new castings: #44 2021 Lexus 500 LS, #102 2023 Toyota Prius Prime, and #37 2023 Dodge Charger Pursuit. The collection also introduced 7 new color variations and the Ducati Scrambler Indiana Jones model, which repeats from the 2024 core range but is now released with a 2025 packaging.

Wave C offered another 11 models, including 4 new castings: #52 1997 Acura Integra Type R, #76 MBX Lil Dumper, #77 2023 BMW M2, and #109 2017 Toyota Landcruiser 78. In February 2025, Wave D will arrive with 12 more models. The new casting is #123 MBX EV School Bus, and the wave will also feature the Super Chase Toyota 4Runner, which is found in large quantities, particularly in Central Europe. This model is packaged with the label 2/4, while the first Super Chase had packaging marked as 1/6.

Early April brought a wave E release featuring 9 cars, including three new additions: #13 Blaze Baster III, #89 Coast 2 Coast and the legendary 'Duck' – #115 1970 Citroën 2CV. Almost immediately, wave F arrives with 11 models, from which we present three new castings: #47 GMC 3500 Utility Truck, #62 MBX EV Trash Truck and #73 2025 RAM 1500 REV.

The July G wave turned out really well. It includes 11 cars, five of which are new releases – 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB, 1966 Chevelle Wagon, 2021 Morgan 3-Wheeler, 2024 BMW 7-Series, and 2024 Cadillac Lyriq. If you're lucky, you might even find a twelfth model in this wave – the Super Chase Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. And for collectors of themed series, it's a great wave too, featuring four of them: City Service (Renault Kangoo), Rescue Matchbox County (Pierce Arrow XT), Agave Acres (Ford F-150), and NYC Taxi (Ford Police Interceptor). Wave H includes 10 cars and features one brand-new casting, the 2024 Maserati MC-12.

Wave J (Mix 9) consists of 8+1 models. The new casting is the popular SUV - 2023 Toyota RAV4 TRD. The “+1” model is the 1936 Auburn Speedster, originally released in 2023. In 2025, it reappears with the same collector number, #48, as in its original release. This results in a duplicate entry in the 2025 catalog, where two different models share the same number. A similar issue occurred earlier in Wave B with the Ducati Scrambler, which was also re-released with the same collector number.

Wave K brings as many as 13 cars, including one new casting: #5 1995 BMW 318 ti. In some parts of Europe, this mix was not fully distributed, making certain popular short-card models harder to find, such as Express Delivery in the UPS livery, 1994 Lexus LS 400, Fiat Topolino, or the already mentioned new BMW 318. And this already packed wave also includes the Shelby Cobra 427 as the Super Chase model.

For the second-to-last Mix 11, or Wave L, Mattel packed a total of 11 models, including as many as 5 new releases – #40 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06, #60 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto, #80 2023 BMW i4 Sedan, #116 MBX Turf Hauler II, and #117 2023 Ford E-Transit Custom. Among the fan favorites is certainly the Ground Grinder in the popular National Parks color scheme.
